Mobility Training and Fall Prevention for Aging Patients

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 28%-35% of adults over the age of 65 fall every year, especially in situations where they are doing several things at the same time. Those affected often experience falls as incisive moments that lead to great stress and, with increasing age, also have health consequences and thus lead to higher costs in the healthcare system.

With ‘ExerGetic’, senior citizens can simultaneously train their walking ability, stability and cognitive skills in a physically immersive game environment that is projected onto three surrounding screens.

Various studies have shown that simultaneous training is very promising. At the same time, a specially developed safety system is used to prevent falls during training.

With ‘ExerGetic’ a playfully motivating and hazard-free fall prevention training and was developed and researched using an iterative and user-centred design process.
